CHANGING EDUCATION - context of sustainability crisis

population facts : half of the world - 3.75 billion - are under 30. There is a huge amount of work/learing they need to do if our species is to be sustainable. BUT populations vary by place- there are some poor nations in africa where half are under 20! there are some rich places in erupe where half will soon be over 50

Not everyone agrees exaxtly with these jobs projections which we published and debated since 1984 but thet are indicative of the amount of change in education youth economies will need if our children are to sustain our species. Nations priorities currently vary by rich and developing nation but also other segmentd that mneed clarifying: eg nations with huge amounts of land per perosn to the opposite; nations where infrastructure supports every locality's sustainable trade to ones where infrastructure is old or never existed in integrated way.

one billion new jobs renewing planet - these change energy, waste, anything needed so that mother earth's climate an resources for each next child are as evolutionary fit as when you grew up

one billion new jobs renewing every community - these achieve all other sustainability goals so that wherever a child is born she has a fair chance  of developing a happy and productive life

one billion jobs that use the 1000 fold more investment in technologies of connectedness being made now versus 1946 so that trades acrooss communities go way above history's zero sum borders with applications that prefentially solve next generations life critical challenges

ages of potential lifelong learning

0-6 (historically left to parents/families)

6-11 ( adolescence - typically state run)

11-13 thru 18 - age at which states fininsh mansating education vary; also many places offer no vocational transition

18 plus - many old societies now require most youth to pay for this even though those of pension age had free supply for

'best" scholars to 21 undergrauate and even better scholars to 25 post graduate

other ages - before digital mobilisation - with the exception of libraries of books in wealthier communities education constrained to indstrial age work or individual's local curiosity or community building
